Malaysia: Fatty Crab Restoran

As ironic as it is, I don't actually eat shellfish therefore my trip to Fatty Crab Restoran comprised of me sitting and waiting for my family to finish eating their seafood. However, the few non-crustacean dishes we had were just as delicious as the seafood.

Once again, we ordered satays. I feel like we have slowly stepped on board of a ritual where ordering satays are essential. Fatty Crab's satays generally tasted pretty good however some parts were a bit burnt. I liked how you are able to order them one by one instead of having to waste a bunch if you order too much. Nothing special about these satays but I guess it made a good appetizer.

This was, hands down, the second best dish I had this trip. When the waiter brings out this steamy, fragrant fish you can already smell the deliciousness. The fish was amazingly fresh, the flesh was extraordinarily smooth and soft. Not only was the fish delicious but the sauce drenching the fish was also amazing. We mixed some with the fried rice we had and it was heavenlyyyyy.

In the above image, you may be able to see the fried rice peeking out in the corner. Like I said, the fish was the second best and the fried rice steals the first place. The fried rice was fried so amazingly and had hints of a crab fat fragrance. The rice itself also deserves a mention. It didn't make the mistake of being overly sticky that it felt more like you're eating sushi however it wasn't so dry that is almost choked you. The texture and the wetness of the rice was just right and had you scooping for more. Don't worry because they didn't throw away the tradition of the egg slices in traditional fried rice but they did step it up a notch by crsipfying parts of the shredded egg. Whether or not you like fried rice generally, don't make a mistake by not getting this!

I didn't eat any of the seafood however both my parents gave it an 8 while my sister gave it a 9

Overall this restaurant's food was reaaaallllyyyy good. If you enjoy sitting at a more traditional, semi-outdoor, noisy restaurant this would be perfect. We went pretty early, at around 5pm, and we easily found a spot. As soon as the clock ticks 7, lines start forming and even television presenters with giant cameras will show up. As a family of 4, we spent around HKD$600 on this meal yet it was definitely worth it because the seafood and everything was very fresh.

The address is below however if you tell a taxi driver you want to go to Fatty Crab, I'm sure they would know.
