Malaysia: KSL Hotel's Infusion Cafe

Having visited Malaysia last Christmas, our whole family have come to a realization that Malaysia's food was beyond perfection! A quick example would be the KSL hotel cafe- Infusion. Having stayed at the big city, Kuala Lumpur, for 5 nights we travelled all the way down to Johor Bahru. We finally arrived at around 9pm and literally dreaded the hunt for dinner. We searched around the KSL mall (situated right beside the hotel) however all the shops seemed to be shutting and if not, they would shut when we walked past eyeing, threatening them for overtime shift. Eventually we ended up just eating at the hotel cafe which we didn't expect much from it. OH HOW WRONG WE WERE.

The beef and chicken satays came first and after being on a car for 6-7 hours, these were AMAZING. However, honestly speaking, if I were to go back again NOT so hungry, I think it would still be good but just not AMAZING. The meat was very tender and the crispy parts were just right. The sauce that accompanied it made it impossible to resist dunking your entire satay in to it. Definitely recommended for an appetizer.

Unfortunately, I don't remember what this pizza was called but it was certainly delicious. The crust was very crispy while the center remained soft and chewy. The texture reminded me a bit of pita bread or roti due to it's chewiness. Like many readers, I do not like onions however, since it was so thinly sliced and delicate, you don't notice the pungent taste yet it definitely brings out some flavor. Every taste in this pizza worked well with each other. For example, the tomato sauce was very sweet and non-sour therefore it didn't overwhelm the taste of the cheese. One thing I would criticize would actually be the cheese. Frankly, I prefer a crumbly type of cheese rather than a very rubbery and elastic cheese therefore I wasn't too impressed. I would recommend this if you are a fan of thin, crispy pizzas, mushrooms, and a plainer, meatless topping.

Looking at the fact that I am not even able to take a decent picture of this reinforces the statement I am about to make below. Please. DO NOT GET THIS. Our family wanted to try something traditional from Johor Bahru so we made the mistake of getting... this. To this day, I am actually still not sure what the actual ingredients were but they were along the lines of spaghetti drenched in some sort of peanut sauce.  The peanut sauce was way too grainy and when you indulge in a spoonful of spaghetti it literally gags you. This put us off in trying it again in a more traditional restaurant which I believe actually would've tasted better. I do not recommend this.

I forgot to take a picture of the best dish of the night which was the fish and chips. I had to crop this out from a family photo which explains the impatient hand of my dad. The fish and chips was definitely the best dish of the night. The crispiness of the coating was just right while the actual cod was very soft and smooth with plentiful of flavor  The coating did not takeover the taste of the cod and the sauces that came with the dish was also worth a mention.

Overall the Infusion Cafe in KSL Hotel is definitely worth the try. It certainly surprised us with serving high-quality, finger licking dishes at around 10pm. The atmosphere was also very relaxing while the price was great. We ordered 4 dishes with 2 fresh-squeezed drinks and it did not excel HKD$300.

They also serve buffets for breakfast and dinner and those times seem a little bit crowded (I recommend reservations) however if you are looking for a meal during a non-peak hour, it's generally quiet. If you are planing on heading over, the adress is below.
